India is the second most populated nation in the world and recently the government bought 250,000 OLPC XO for their school children, thanks to their failed project to make a $10 dollars basic laptop.
In fact, the OLPC XO which the government purchased recently would be supplied to 1,500 schools in the region, so that school kids can tap into the power of the latest technology and the internet, of course. On the other hand, the government also has future plans for their kids – they plan to acquire up to 3 million portable computers for school usages.
It’s definitely a thumbs down to produce their cheapo $10 dollars PC and I don’t think that the project could go anywhere near production as it’s simply too cheap, but it’s a wise move to get the OLPC XO instead.
