I’m sure Subaru is well known for their rally cars, those fast moving devils which won the company numerous world rally championships. In fact, Subaru has recently unveiled their latest Stella Electric Vehicle to the media and it’s no fast and mean machine but something that is somewhat decent for your everyday usages.

On the other hand, Fuji Heavy Industries, the parent company of Subaru automobiles, have eventually begun testing their Stella Electric Vehicle. According to various news sources, the company managed to boost the power output for their Stella Electric Vehicle from 40kW to a whopping 47kW by stripping away all unnecessary weight and accessories.

Well for those who are looking forward to own one of Subaru’s latest Stella Electric Vehicle, you wouldn’t have the chance as it is not scheduled to launch anytime soon.

Take a look at the Stella Electric Vehicle:

Slower Demand for Atom ProcessorsPDF Print E-mail

Saturday, 25 April 2009
Just last year, the Atom processor was nearing its maximum production capacity and there were claims that this processor would be short in supply. On the other hand, amidst the global economic meltdown, the Atom processor continued to enjoy positive demand and growth as there were tons to electronic devices were utilizing the processor.

However, of late, the demand for the Atom processors seems to be cooling down. In fact, the Atoms are facing two new challenges, which are slower demands for netbooks as well as increasing competition from other processor manufacturers such as the ION platform by NVIDIA and Intel’s own CULV.

Personally, I think Atom processors are simply insufficient for heavy usage and it’s really an utter rubbish if you want to watch many high definition movies together. Well it deserves to go through a slow down – finally.

Toshiba Qosmio UpdatesPDF Print E-mail

It seems that Toshiba would be pushing up another notch further by incorporating the latest Cell-based SpursEngine HD video co-processor into their Qosmio line of gaming machines. I believe that with the additional cell-based processor, this would mean that you can watch high definition videos without feeling the slightest performance downgrade in slower computers. On the other hand, the Qosmio would also have the option for the latest Core 2 Duo processors and most importantly, GeForce 9600M GT graphics for serious gaming capabilities.

And as for the pricing, it doesn’t come cheap if you want an ultimate portable gaming machine. The 18.4-inch Qosmio G50 would cost approximately ¥320,000 ($3,241) while the smaller 15.4-inch Qosmio FX would be retailed at ¥210,000 ($2,119). And if you are going for the latest new 1.4GHz 12.1-inch Dynabook SS RX2 with 128GB SSD, you’ll have to pay a premium for it as it would cost you ¥280,000 ($2,840).

Anybody wants to try out the all new Cell-based SpursEngine HD video co-processor in the new Qosmio?

India Bought OLPC XO for SchoolsPDF Print E-mail

India is the second most populated nation in the world and recently the government bought 250,000 OLPC XO for their school children, thanks to their failed project to make a $10 dollars basic laptop.

In fact, the OLPC XO which the government purchased recently would be supplied to 1,500 schools in the region, so that school kids can tap into the power of the latest technology and the internet, of course. On the other hand, the government also has future plans for their kids – they plan to acquire up to 3 million portable computers for school usages.

It’s definitely a thumbs down to produce their cheapo $10 dollars PC and I don’t think that the project could go anywhere near production as it’s simply too cheap, but it’s a wise move to get the OLPC XO instead.

Acer certainly knows how to create stylish and glossy PCs in the market and recently they have unveiled their latest AspireRevo to the market. In fact, the AspireRevo is aimed at the low end market whereby when you just need a basic PC to do some mundane tasks, the AspireRevo is something you should seriously consider.

On the other hand, the AspireRevo is powered by the latest Atom platform and it comes with the following hardware configurations:

Atom 230 processor
2GB of RAM
250GB 2.5-inch HDD

My 2 cents:

So how much, you might be wondering? It would be retailed somewhere in the $299 region. Personally, I won’t think of getting such basic laptops as the performance is really sluggish. Just think of using back the old Pentium based single core processors, minus all the flashy features – that’s the Atom platform.

Just take a look at the Acer AspireRevo:

MSI recently unveiled their latest Wind Top AE1900 to the market at Hanover early this year and I can say the all-in-one PC is definitely a glossy one. Personally, I think that the Wind Top AE1900 is something you should purchase for your secretary as it would come with the sluggish Atom 230 or 330 CPU and I don’t think that it would be sufficient if you want to use it to play demanding games on your PC. However, I can see that the Wind Top AE1900 has a comfortable 18.5 inch display, which I think would be huge enough to get normal word processing tasks completed comfortably or even to browse the internet and view web pages using a bigger browser window.

And if you are wondering what the specifications for the Wind Top AE1900 are, here goes:

1,366 x 768 resolution touchscreen
Integrated GMA950 graphics
2GB of DDR2-533 RAM
160GB or 250GB hard drive
4-in-1 multicard reader
Dual-layer DVD writer
WiFi
Gigabit Ethernet
1.3 megapixel webcam

The MSI Wind Top AE1900 would be available for purchase for just $529.

Toshiba certainly got the brains to incorporate a chiclet type keyboard on their latest miniature Dynabook UX. Personally, I do have a thing for these type of keyboards as I think it’s really cool. I believe Sony might be the culprit, the one who introduced such keyboard into the market and now it’s catching on flame and every other computer manufacturers wants to include a chiclet keyboard.

And as for the Dynabook UX, it comes with these hardware, such as 1.6GHz N280 netbooks, the UX remains saddled with 945GSE graphics (not GN40), a 10.1-inch, LED backlit 1024 x 600 pixel resolution and 160GB disk.

If you are thinking that it might be cheap to purchase a netbook – you are indeed wrong as Toshiba is planning to sell their latest Dynabook UX for a whopping price of $600. Personally, I don’t think that anyone that are cash-strapped should get one of these netbooks as I think that you’ll be better off purchasing a dual-core instead.

Here’s how the Dynabook UX looks like:

LG is pretty smart by incorporating a high megapixel camera into their smartphone, dubbed as the Viewty Smart. In fact, I believe that this would be the first smartphone which comes packed with such a high megapixel camera – a whopping 8 megapixel capability.

On the other hand, the Viewty Smart also comes with WVGA display resolution, giving you sharp and crisp images. The camera also comes with ISO 1600 sensitivity, and DVD-quality video recording. Also, the latest Viewty Smart will have the newest S-Class user interface as well as other goodies such as 7.2Mbps HSDPA, integrated WiFi, AGPS, and 1.5GB microSD.

The Viewty Smart is just a mere 12.4mm thick and European consumers can look forward to purchase one with a contract starting next month.

Ever wanted your own lie detector? I think we all would some times, if not to just be able to call “BS” on your buddy when you know he’s telling a lie at a party. Before I introduce this nifty little gadget, let tell a joke. This is an old one I posted at Healthandmen.com while ago.

One day Kyle’s dad brought home a robot. The robot was special in that it could detect a lie and would slap the person who lied in the face.

Kyle returned late from school that day and his dad asked him, “Son why are you late from school?” Kyle answered, “Dad, we had extra classes today”. Much to his astonishment the robot jumped up and slapped Kyle on his face. His dad told him, “Son this robot is special in that it can detect a Lie and will then slap the person who lied. Now come on tell me the truth. “Why are you late?” “Dad, I went to a movie”, replied Kyle. “Which movie?”, his father asks. “The Ten Commandments”, says Kyle. Immediately, Kyle got a slap on the face from the robot. “Sorry Dad, I went to see the movie Sex Queen”. “Shame on you son, when I was your age I never watched obscene movies or misbehaved” Immediately, the dad gets a tight slap on the face from the robot.

Hearing the last sentence, Kyle’s mother comes walking out of the kitchen and sarcastically says to her husband, “After all he is your son!!!”

Mafia II October 31, 2009PDF Print E-mail

Mafia II will be released on October 31, 2009 but screenshots from the Xbox 360 version of the game have begun to surface across the internet. Here’s your first look at the game!

The sequel to Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven will be set in Empire City (a fictional setting based on a mix of San Francisco and New York City) during the 1940s and 1950s. I’m assuming we can expect some old-school gangster action which I think is a nice change from all the “modern warfare” type games available today.

In the game, players will have a lot of freedom since there are no restrictions and it will feature a completely open-ended game map of 10 square miles. That’s huge! The controls seem pretty straight-forward as well. There were will be two action buttons (one for standard and the other for violent action) but I’m not sure what to expect from the checkpoint system.

Weaponry will range from what was available in the previous game (Thompson M1928, Colt 1911 and a pump action shotgun) but it will also include new WWII-era weapons such as the MP40, M3 Grease Gun and the MG42.
